A Quick Upper Body Workout on the Pointe-Nord Esplanade

Finding time to exercise can sometimes seem impossible. Sometimes all you need is a little motivation and Hessam Ghavidel, Pointe-Nord resident and personal trainer to many of the other residents, is walking-talking-human motivation!

We teamed up with him to create a simple workout that takes only a few minutes and can be performed on the Pointe Nord esplanade.

1- Standing Butterfly Crunches

Target muscles: Abs & obliques

Stand with your hands behind your ears and raise each knee to touch the opposite elbow.

4 sets for each side and 20 reps for each set

2- Standing Side Crunches

Target muscles: Obliques

Bend from side to side, trying as much as possible to touch your elbow to your knee.

4 sets for each side and 15 to 20 reps for each set

3- Bench Tiger Crunches

Target muscle: Abs

While sitting on the bench, raise both legs parallel to the ground, pull them up to the stomach and then extend.

4 or 5 sets and 15 to 20 reps for each set

4- Bench Push-Ups

Target muscles: Chest, triceps & anterior deltoids (shoulders)

With your feet on the ground and your hands on the bench in a push-up position, lift your upper body until your arms are outstretched, and then lower your upper body until your arms at a 90-degree angle.

3 or 4 sets and 10 to 12 reps for each set
