Evolo NEX receives LEED Gold certification

Logo certification LEED Or

Evolo  NEX building in the Pointe-Nord neighbourhood of L’Île-des-Soeurs has been awarded the prestigious LEED Gold certification by the Canada Green Building Council. This is the seventh LEED certification for real estate developer Proment.

A rigorous certification process

« Reducing the ecological footprint of our buildings is one of our contributions to diminishing our environmental impact and improving people’s well-being,» says Ilan Gewurz, President of Proment Corporation. “Obtaining LEED certification is part of a very strict process, and we are proud to have invested the necessary efforts to achieve it.”

To achieve LEED accreditation, buildings must address six categories: green site location, water efficiency, energy efficiency and atmosphere, conservation of materials and resources, and indoor environmental quality, in addition to being assessed for innovation and design. Once the project is completed, the Canada Green Building Council performs the necessary verifications to ensure that the building is built and operated according to sustainable development standards.

A clear advantage for residents

“In addition to consuming 30% less water than a standard building, Evolo NEX’s energy consumption is 50% more efficient than the energy code,” continues Ilan Gewurz. Residents’ heating and electricity bills will be considerably reduced.

Pointe Nord neighbourhood, nearing completion

The fifth tower of the Pointe Nord neighbourhood, Evolo NEX is 85% sold and welcomed its first residents in August 2024. Another building, located close to Evolo NEX, is currently in the planning stage. The 26-storey rental building will feature studios and 1 to 3-bedroom condominiums. Evolo NEX is the last chance to buy a new condominium in a Pointe Nord high-rise.

Located near the river and the REM station, the Pointe Nord neighbourhood offers an inspiring lifestyle with local merchants, parks and riverside paths.

Promoting local purchasing with the Evolo NEX model condo, furnished by EQ3

As part of our commitment to promoting local purchasing, Evolo NEX was pleased to collaborate with Canadian furniture retailer EQ3 to furnish a magnificent two-bedroom model condo. Founded in 2001, EQ3 distinguishes itself by creating timeless furniture, featuring quality materials, meticulous finishes and clean-lined design.

A warm and natural design

For the design of this open-area space, designer Anne-Marie Jean opted for natural colors and materials: stone plates, leather chairs, natural wood furniture. Each element has been carefully chosen to create an ambiance that is modern, convivial and sustainable.

With the growing popularity of remote working, the second bedroom was transformed into a functional and elegant office space.

“I’m delighted to have teamed up with EQ3, which offers a fine selection of furniture and accessories to furnish the condo in style,” says Anne-Marie Jean.

Personalized service for every project

At EQ3, the customer experience is at the heart of their priorities.

“Our customers often come to us with their plans for a new home or photos of their rooms,” explains EQ3’s Marie-Josée Leclerc.

In these situations, in-store consultants offer a complete space-planning service: layout plan, 3D modeling and personalized advice. This service is free in-store, with the option of an in-home consultation for more complex projects.

Furnishing trends: nature, softness and iconic design

Today’s major furnishing trends are just like this showcased condo: open spaces, natural colors and pale woods.

Timeless design

At EQ3, mid-century inspiration remains a classic, but we also find 70s-inspired shapes with curved lines and inviting materials. Feather sofas and sectionals, known for their ultra-soft comfort, remain particularly popular.

Always on the lookout for global trends, the EQ3 design team renews its collections every year, offering furniture that is both timeless and contemporary.

Optimizing Space with Style: Limuro’ custom designed furniture for Evolo NEX condos

Pierre Côté

Pierre Côté from Limuro

Limuro has proudly collaborated multiple times with Corporation Proment on the design of their model condos. As part of the Evolo NEX project, Mr. Pierre Côté from the Limuro team was brought in to optimize the layout of a one-bedroom condo measuring 645 sq. ft.

A Custom Design, Tailored for Modern Living

The Evolo NEX condo was entirely designed to combine functionality and aesthetics. Working alongside designer Anne-Marie Jean from Pair Design, Limuro created a fully custom space featuring a Murphy bed and a smartly designed workspace.

The chosen style is minimalist, showcasing clean lines, light tones, and a natural wood finish that beautifully complements the materials selected for the kitchen. The overall effect is a space that feels bright, calm, and cohesive.

Tackling a Design Challenge: The Entryway Office

One of the project’s key challenges was incorporating a functional office space right at the condo entrance—a small area that needed to deliver both practicality and style.

A clever and visually striking nook

To make the most of every square inch, Limuro added overhead storage and a built-in bookshelf. The result is a clever and visually striking nook that offers a warm welcome as soon as you walk in the door.

Smaller Living Spaces Are Driving Demand for Murphy Beds

Demand for Murphy beds continues to grow—especially with the rise of micro-studios measuring between 300 and 400 sq. ft. In these compact units, a Murphy bed with an integrated sofa has become an essential feature.

The key benefit? It transforms a room into a versatile, multifunctional space. During the day, the area becomes a living room or home office; at night, it easily converts into a comfortable sleeping area. It’s an increasingly popular solution among urban dwellers who want to maximize the potential of their living space.

Condo modèle Evolo NEX

One condo is fine, but four is better

We commissioned designer Anne-Marie Jean to create not one, but four model condos in the new Evolo NEX tower in the Pointe Nord neighbourhood. Anne-Marie has been designing model condos for Proment Corporation for 20 years. She tells us how she came to successfully complete her mandate.

The key to a successful design

“There are certain advantages to designing four different condos,” says Anne-Marie. ”When I choose the boutiques that will be my partners, I take into account the furniture styles they offer and imagine a potential customer for each type of furnishing. As a general rule, people have difficulty imagining furniture in an empty space. So I aim for a design that will appeal to most people by incorporating timeless materials and textures, while drawing inspiration from current trends. This makes it easier for visitors to project themselves into the space.”

A collaboration that fosters success

”I had a great collaboration with the furniture dealers, EQ3, Mikaza, and Limuro. I gave preference to furniture and supplies available in inventory, in order to meet the deadline. EQ3 and Limuro have already been involved in furnishing model condos for Proment Corporation. I was happy to have a new partnership with Mikaza, which offers a fine selection of local furniture and accessories. ”

The challenges of new construction.

”Working on a construction site brings its own set of challenges. Accessibility to the unit during construction of a 26-storey tower can be restricted. Scheduling for subcontractors and furniture delivery is then very difficult, as I have to meet tight deadlines. It’s very different from working with buyers who have a specific moving date or who are renovating their home. ”

Design tips for condo living

”My trick with condo living is to optimize storage. For example, I integrate double purpose items;
– An office chair in the same style as the dining room chair can be used for an extra guest.
– A wall unit containing a murphy bed will be useful for an overnight visitor.
– An ottoman can serve as storage for blankets and pillows etc…

A large sofa creates a beautiful effect

I also prefer to integrate large pieces of furniture, but in small numbers. For example, a sectional sofa and an occasional armchair have more style than a small love seat and two armchairs. Contrary to popular belief, small pieces of furniture don’t make a room seem bigger.

The same applies to decorative objects. A large sculpture on a table looks sophisticated, while a lot of small, badly arranged knick-knacks won’t fit in well with the decor. Of course, there are exceptions to these rules when they are well executed. That’s when the services of a designer can really make a difference. ”

Interview with Melissa Del Pinto: Capturing the Emotional Landscape

Melissa Del Pinto, artiste

Proment Corporation makes room for art in its condominiums. Linda Covit’s sculptures can be admired in front of Evolo X, and artists’ canvases in other buildings. For Evolo NEX, we commissioned artist Melissa Del Pinto to create a large-format work to be displayed in the lobby. We caught up with the artist to find out more about her artistic approach.

Pointe NordYou’ve been creating art since childhood and painting professionally for over 20 years. Can you tell us about your background and how it has influenced your work?

Melissa : Absolutely. My journey with art began early on, and it’s been a lifelong passion. I studied illustration and design at Dawson College, which gave me a solid foundation in visual storytelling and technique. Over the years, I’ve gravitated towards oils on canvas as my preferred medium, even though I also paint murals. The richness and depth of oils really resonate with me, allowing me to explore complex emotions and themes on canvas.

Pointe Nord: The Gewurz family recently commissioned you for a major order after discovering you at a fundraising event. Can you share more about that experience?

Melissa: That was a very special project for me. The Gewurz family found my work during a fundraiser for Multicaf last year, and they commissioned a modern seascape for the lobby of their new building – Evolo NEX on Nuns’ Island. It is a 48” x 48” acrylic painting of a modern seascape. Working with Louise Dupont, from Lemay Michaud, we developed a piece that reflects a sense of peace and legacy, which was deeply meaningful given that it is created now in memory of Mr. Gewurz. Although he didn’t get to see it completed, I hope the painting brings comfort and a sense of enduring presence to the family.

Pointe NordNature, particularly birds, has been a major source of inspiration for you. Recently, you’ve been exploring new themes like skies, clouds, and seascapes. What has sparked this shift in your subject matter?

Melissa : Nature has always been a profound inspiration for me, especially birds. They symbolize freedom and grace, which I love to capture in my work. Lately, though, I’ve felt a strong pull towards themes like skies, clouds, and seascapes. This change stems from a broader reflection on transformation and the shifting emotions I observe around me. I believe if emotion could be painted, it would take the form of a sky—vast, ever-changing, and deeply evocative. This idea has fuelled my recent “Shift” series, where I aim to depict the collective sense of change and emotional flux we are experiencing.

Pointe NordYour “Shift” series seems to encapsulate a lot of the current emotional climate. How do you translate such abstract feelings into your work?

Melissa : The “Shift” series is my attempt to channel the pervasive sense of transformation we’re all feeling into visual form. I see the sky as a metaphor for emotion—its vastness and variability perfectly capture the essence of what we’re going through. In these paintings, I blend abstract elements with natural forms to create pieces that evoke this sense of movement and change. It’s about using the fluidity of paint to mirror the emotional shifts that are happening around us.

Pointe Nord:  What do you hope viewers take away from your work, particularly from the “Shift” series?

Melissa: I hope viewers connect with the emotional depth and the sense of movement in my work. The “Shift” series, in particular, is about embracing change and finding beauty in transformation. I want my paintings to resonate with people’s experiences, to offer a moment of reflection and perhaps a sense of solace in knowing that change, while often challenging, can lead to profound growth and understanding.
