Condo modèle Evolo NEX

One condo is fine, but four is better

We commissioned designer Anne-Marie Jean to create not one, but four model condos in the new Evolo NEX tower in the Pointe Nord neighbourhood. Anne-Marie has been designing model condos for Proment Corporation for 20 years. She tells us how she came to successfully complete her mandate.

The key to a successful design

“There are certain advantages to designing four different condos,” says Anne-Marie. ”When I choose the boutiques that will be my partners, I take into account the furniture styles they offer and imagine a potential customer for each type of furnishing. As a general rule, people have difficulty imagining furniture in an empty space. So I aim for a design that will appeal to most people by incorporating timeless materials and textures, while drawing inspiration from current trends. This makes it easier for visitors to project themselves into the space.”

A collaboration that fosters success

”I had a great collaboration with the furniture dealers, EQ3, Mikaza, and Limuro. I gave preference to furniture and supplies available in inventory, in order to meet the deadline. EQ3 and Limuro have already been involved in furnishing model condos for Proment Corporation. I was happy to have a new partnership with Mikaza, which offers a fine selection of local furniture and accessories. ”

The challenges of new construction.

”Working on a construction site brings its own set of challenges. Accessibility to the unit during construction of a 26-storey tower can be restricted. Scheduling for subcontractors and furniture delivery is then very difficult, as I have to meet tight deadlines. It’s very different from working with buyers who have a specific moving date or who are renovating their home. ”

Design tips for condo living

”My trick with condo living is to optimize storage. For example, I integrate double purpose items;
– An office chair in the same style as the dining room chair can be used for an extra guest.
– A wall unit containing a murphy bed will be useful for an overnight visitor.
– An ottoman can serve as storage for blankets and pillows etc…

A large sofa creates a beautiful effect

I also prefer to integrate large pieces of furniture, but in small numbers. For example, a sectional sofa and an occasional armchair have more style than a small love seat and two armchairs. Contrary to popular belief, small pieces of furniture don’t make a room seem bigger.

The same applies to decorative objects. A large sculpture on a table looks sophisticated, while a lot of small, badly arranged knick-knacks won’t fit in well with the decor. Of course, there are exceptions to these rules when they are well executed. That’s when the services of a designer can really make a difference. ”

Interview with Melissa Del Pinto: Capturing the Emotional Landscape

Melissa Del Pinto, artiste

Proment Corporation makes room for art in its condominiums. Linda Covit’s sculptures can be admired in front of Evolo X, and artists’ canvases in other buildings. For Evolo NEX, we commissioned artist Melissa Del Pinto to create a large-format work to be displayed in the lobby. We caught up with the artist to find out more about her artistic approach.

Pointe NordYou’ve been creating art since childhood and painting professionally for over 20 years. Can you tell us about your background and how it has influenced your work?

Melissa : Absolutely. My journey with art began early on, and it’s been a lifelong passion. I studied illustration and design at Dawson College, which gave me a solid foundation in visual storytelling and technique. Over the years, I’ve gravitated towards oils on canvas as my preferred medium, even though I also paint murals. The richness and depth of oils really resonate with me, allowing me to explore complex emotions and themes on canvas.

Pointe Nord: The Gewurz family recently commissioned you for a major order after discovering you at a fundraising event. Can you share more about that experience?

Melissa: That was a very special project for me. The Gewurz family found my work during a fundraiser for Multicaf last year, and they commissioned a modern seascape for the lobby of their new building – Evolo NEX on Nuns’ Island. It is a 48” x 48” acrylic painting of a modern seascape. Working with Louise Dupont, from Lemay Michaud, we developed a piece that reflects a sense of peace and legacy, which was deeply meaningful given that it is created now in memory of Mr. Gewurz. Although he didn’t get to see it completed, I hope the painting brings comfort and a sense of enduring presence to the family.

Pointe NordNature, particularly birds, has been a major source of inspiration for you. Recently, you’ve been exploring new themes like skies, clouds, and seascapes. What has sparked this shift in your subject matter?

Melissa : Nature has always been a profound inspiration for me, especially birds. They symbolize freedom and grace, which I love to capture in my work. Lately, though, I’ve felt a strong pull towards themes like skies, clouds, and seascapes. This change stems from a broader reflection on transformation and the shifting emotions I observe around me. I believe if emotion could be painted, it would take the form of a sky—vast, ever-changing, and deeply evocative. This idea has fuelled my recent “Shift” series, where I aim to depict the collective sense of change and emotional flux we are experiencing.

Pointe NordYour “Shift” series seems to encapsulate a lot of the current emotional climate. How do you translate such abstract feelings into your work?

Melissa : The “Shift” series is my attempt to channel the pervasive sense of transformation we’re all feeling into visual form. I see the sky as a metaphor for emotion—its vastness and variability perfectly capture the essence of what we’re going through. In these paintings, I blend abstract elements with natural forms to create pieces that evoke this sense of movement and change. It’s about using the fluidity of paint to mirror the emotional shifts that are happening around us.

Pointe Nord:  What do you hope viewers take away from your work, particularly from the “Shift” series?

Melissa: I hope viewers connect with the emotional depth and the sense of movement in my work. The “Shift” series, in particular, is about embracing change and finding beauty in transformation. I want my paintings to resonate with people’s experiences, to offer a moment of reflection and perhaps a sense of solace in knowing that change, while often challenging, can lead to profound growth and understanding.

An unexpected recommendation

When looking for the ideal place to invest in a new home, unexpected tips can sometimes lead to incredible discoveries. That’s exactly what happened to Mélanie Rouette and François Barré, a couple of electrical contractors, when a recommendation led them to explore the Evolo NEX project, located in the Pointe Nord neighbouhood.
It was during a visit to the 5e avenue hair salon in Pointe Nord that hairdresser Mélinda strongly recommended that Mélanie visit the Evolo NEX project. Accompanied by their son Cédric, who was looking to buy a riverside condo for himself, they decided to take a look at what this project had to offer.

The Pointe Nord neighbourhood with many assets

We knew L’Île-des-Sœurs, since we have many customers there,” says Mélanie, “but we weren’t very familiar with Pointe Nord. This neighbourhood, with its vast waterfront park offering incomparable tranquility, immediately captured the couple’s attention. “We love the fact that we can walk along the waterfront, have easy access to bike paths and, as we have two dogs, plenty of space to walk them,” adds Mélanie.

An exciting first off-plan purchase

Although Cédric had initially considered buying a condo for himself, he finally changed his mind. It was Mélanie and François who decided to take the plunge and acquire a 2-bedroom condo in the Evolo NEX project. “It was our first off-plan purchase, but we really enjoyed the experience,” says Mélanie. “Being able to personalize and make choices according to our tastes was very pleasing. The designers helped us with our selections and advised us throughout the process.”

A new beginning: Waterfront condo

With their move-in scheduled for soon, Mélanie, François and their daughter Vicky are looking forward to beginning this new phase of their lives in the Pointe Nord neighborhood. “We’re convinced we’ve made the right choice by investing in this project,” Mélanie continues. ”Of note, we’ve already embraced businesses like Mamie Clafoutis, Les Enfants Terribles, and I recently discovered JC Quoi‘s delicious smoothies,” says Mélanie. “We can’t wait to see all this community has to offer.” She concludes.

Whether you’re looking for a peaceful riverfront condo or vibrant urban living with easy access to amenities, the Evolo NEX project in Pointe Nord offers the best of both worlds, as Mélanie and François attest.

4 design requirements for common areas according to Proment

Louise Dupont, Associate Designer at Lemay Michaud

Louise Dupont, Associate designer at Lemay Michaud

Proment Corporation is setting the bar high with the Evolo NEX building, with the aim of creating a home that is luxurious, sustainable and functional. Louise Dupont, associate designer at Lemay Michaud, explains how her team addressed the developer’s 4 requirements and best practices for the design of common spaces.

1. Sustainable development

The ecological footprint is at the heart of Evolo NEX’s design, with a clear objective of LEED certification. Every design choice, every material selected, is scrutinized under the watchful eye of sustainable development. By favoring local materials, we stimulate the economy and reduce CO2 emissions from transport.

The designers have also favored the integration of natural materials such as wood, stone and wool in the design of common spaces. The integration of biophilia, with plants scattered throughout the various spaces, reinforces the link between residents and nature. Vast windows invite natural light to bathe the interiors, while outdoor spaces dedicated to gardening reinforce this connection.

2. Ease of maintenance

Proment aims to simplify residents’ lives by making common areas easy to maintain. Careful choice of materials, hard-wearing carpets and smart furnishings are designed to last, while maintaining impeccable aesthetics. Even the choice of varnish and wood for the condo doors is guided by this philosophy of durability and practicality.

3. Acoustics

Acoustic comfort is a priority for Evolo NEX. The materials selected for the walls and ceilings of the common areas are specially designed to absorb sound, ensuring a peaceful atmosphere and preserving the intimacy of the premises. The layout of discreet, well-equipped telecommuting rooms meets the contemporary needs of working from home, while a floor mat in the social room will attenuate ambient noise.

4. Attention to detail

Our attention to detail is evident at every stage of the construction process. Proment never compromises on aesthetics or the quality of materials,” says Louise Dupont. ”The aim is to create a building that will stand the test of time with elegance, while offering an environment that is easy for residents to live in and maintain.”

Evolo NEX is positioned as an example of modern architecture that harmoniously integrates ecological, aesthetic and practical imperatives. Under the leadership of Proment and the talent of its collaborators, this building combines comfort and sustainability for the benefit of its occupants.

Waterfront harmony: discovering the common spaces of Evolo NEX

Nuns’ Island is home to a new high-rise tower, Evolo NEX, whose common spaces were meticulously designed by the architectural firm Lemay Michaud.  Louise Dupont, the project’s associate designer, shares with us the nuances and inspirations that guided the creation of these living and relaxation spaces.

Spaces inspired by water

When it comes to designing the common spaces, it’s the waterfront aspect that stands out as the main source of inspiration,” says Louise Dupont. Colors, materials and even the rounded shapes of the furniture were carefully selected to evoke the tranquility of the riverbanks. The aim was to create a haven of peace by the water, a place where everyone can disconnect and recharge their batteries”.

Soft tones predominate, inviting relaxation and contemplation. In this spirit, the wall behind the doorman is adorned with felt, evoking the ripples left by the waves on the sand.

Locally sourced works of art

At the heart of the lobby will be a work of art by Montreal artist Melissa Del Pinto, as an ode to local creativity. Close to the doorman’s desk, this piece will capture the attention and wonder of visitors. In addition, another work fashioned from ceramic pieces evoking wa

A social room that invites encounters

Located near the elevators, the vast multi-purpose room invites residents to connect with their neighbours around the pool table, the TV to watch a sporting event or the kitchen with its bar.  More private spaces reserved for coworking will also be made available to those who wish to work outside their unit.

A place to recharge at Quartier Pointe Nord

Relaxation area

The spa, meanwhile, becomes an oasis of relaxation, where tiered seating near the foyer offers an intimate space to recharge one’s batteries in a hushed atmosphere. It’s here that residents can escape the daily hustle and bustle and let themselves be enveloped by the serenity of the surroundings, while admiring the landscaped gardens.

In this way, Evolo NEX’s communal areas are much more than just places to pass through; they are places where art, nature and tranquillity come together, offering everyone a haven of serenity in the midst of urban bustle.

With 30% of the remaining units for sale, including 3-bedroom, 2-bedroom and 1-bedroom units, for delivery in the summer of 2024, this development promises to be a coveted haven for Montrealers enchanted by the Pointe-Nord neighbourhood.

Farewell Mr. Gewurz

Samuel Gewurz, président et fondateur de la Corporation Proment

Mr. Samuel Gewurz, President and founder of Proment Corporation

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Samuel Gewurz, President and Founder of Proment Corporation. Samuel Gewurz will forever be remembered as an extraordinary visionary, an epitome of empathy, and a staunch advocate for all things human.

An impressive track record

As the primary developer of Nuns’ Island, he built more than 6 000 condominiums, homes, and townhomes, and 6 waterfront communities. Proment won many awards through the years, including, among others, “Developer of the Year”, “Green Builder of the Year”, and a special award for protecting the forest, Nuns’ Island’s natural heritage.

He felt tremendous respect and gratitude for the employees and consultants who worked with him in growing Proment and achieving its many accomplishments. He saw each accolade and award as a reflection on his whole team. Mr. Gewurz was awarded the Order of Canada in 2022 for his extraordinary contribution to the nation. He was also the recipient of the Médaille de l’Assemblée Nationale du Québec for his work establishing the Collectif pour L’Unité between the Jewish, Muslim, and Christian communities of Nuns’ Island. In loving memory, may his legacy continue to inspire, and the spirit forever shine in our hearts.

Proment Corporation always aims to create unique and unforgettable experiences for current and potential buyers. An invitation was issued to visit the Evolo Nex building while it was still under construction. On Sunday, September 24, some one hundred buyers visited the site.

””I’m delighted to be able to meet Evolo NEX buyers and give them the chance to access the building to see the views and meet their future neighbours,” says Ilan Gewurz.

The visit gave buyers an opportunity to take stock of the project’s progress. They were reassured about the quality of the construction and the fact that the project was on schedule. What’s more, they said they felt incredibly lucky to have had this opportunity, which made them even more enthusiastic about moving into

Evolo Nex Construction update!

The mild weather of the past few weeks has enabled us to keep the project on schedule. The roof will be poured in November. We’ve begun installing the windows and concrete panels that will serve as the building’s envelope. This work will help give a clearer idea of the building’s appearance. Tracing of the interior partitions has begun, and gypsum plastering will start shortly.
