It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Samuel Gewurz, President and Founder of Proment Corporation. Samuel Gewurz will forever be remembered as an extraordinary visionary, an epitome of empathy, and a staunch advocate for all things human.

An impressive track record

As the primary developer of Nuns’ Island, he built more than 6 000 condominiums, homes, and townhomes, and 6 waterfront communities. Proment won many awards through the years, including, among others, “Developer of the Year”, “Green Builder of the Year”, and a special award for protecting the forest, Nuns’ Island’s natural heritage.

He felt tremendous respect and gratitude for the employees and consultants who worked with him in growing Proment and achieving its many accomplishments. He saw each accolade and award as a reflection on his whole team. Mr. Gewurz was awarded the Order of Canada in 2022 for his extraordinary contribution to the nation. He was also the recipient of the Médaille de l’Assemblée Nationale du Québec for his work establishing the Collectif pour L’Unité between the Jewish, Muslim, and Christian communities of Nuns’ Island. In loving memory, may his legacy continue to inspire, and the spirit forever shine in our hearts.

An extraordinary experience for Evolo Nex buyers

Proment Corporation always aims to create unique and unforgettable experiences for current and potential buyers. An invitation was issued to visit the Evolo Nex building while it was still under construction. On Sunday, September 24, some one hundred buyers visited the site.

The visit gave buyers an opportunity to take stock of the project’s progress. They were reassured about the quality of the construction and the fact that the project was on schedule. Evolo Nex Construction update!

The mild weather of the past few weeks has enabled us to keep the project on schedule. The roof will be poured in November. We’ve begun installing the windows and concrete panels that will serve as the building’s envelope. This work will help give a clearer idea of the building’s appearance. Tracing of the interior partitions has begun, and gypsum plastering will start shortly.

Hairdresser on the Island for some twenty years, Mélinda Leoni chose the Pointe Nord neighbourhood to establish 5e Avenue, her new hair salon.

“The business owners in the community informed me of the need for a hair salon in Pointe Nord. I was charmed by the neighborhood; the atmosphere is very nice and the residents are exceptionally kind! I jumped at the opportunity, and I am delighted I did: I am well settled and I feel very welcomed.

Mélinda received her hairdressing training in Europe. However, while vacationing in Montreal, she liked the city so much that she decided to settle down and develop her career in that part of the world. Today, she is a hair color specialist and does not skimp on the quality of her products, namely she uses Kérastase and L’Oréal.

“My clientele has been loyal through all these years. I am always on the lookout for new techniques, and I regularly improve my skills by taking training courses in order to offer the best care while adapting to current trends.

A hair salon in full development

Open since November, 5e Avenue is in full development and various services are already offered: hair cuts, highlights, blow-dry, manicure and pedicure. Men and women will find something to their liking, as all are welcome.

Mélinda has hired a colorist, a manicure-pedicure specialist and plans to add another hairdresser in the near future to meet the growing demand. This addition will allow her to offer her services 7 days a week.

Construction has finally begun on Evolo Nex tower

We are very pleased to announce that the ground-breaking ceremony for the Evolo NEX tower took place on December 1, 2022, and that construction has finally begun. The 26-storey tower will comprise 258 condos ranging from 1 to 3-bedrooms. The excavation you see on the site represents the area of the underground parking lot and not the tower’s final location. Evolo NEX  will be set back approximately 50 metres from Evolo 2 to preserve unobstructed views. In addition, that the city accepted a ratio of 1.6 parking spaces per condo, which we hope will encourage owner-occupants and thus put less pressure on street parking. Note that La Rotonde Street will be extended past Evolo NEX and will end in a cul-de-sac.

Once built, Evolo NEX will be in perfect harmony with the Pointe Nord neighbourhood and will be integrated into the surrounding community.

A new hair salon, “5e Avenue,” located at 113 Chemin de la Pointe-Nord, is now part of the local businesses. We are pleased to welcome its owner Mélinda Leoni, a hairstylist with over 25 years of experience and a solid reputation among islanders. Mélinda provides a variety of beauty treatments including hairstyling and colouring. She will also be offering the services of a specialist in manicure and pedicure. Come by and support her, you won’t be disappointed by Mélinda’s ability to reinvent styles to suit your needs!

You will soon be able to enjoy a Middle Eastern fusion restaurant located across the street from Les Enfants Terribles. We are also in discussion with a market selling cheese and deli. The year 2023 will bring significant improvements to your neighbourhood main street.

The Montreal real estate developer Proment invited its VIP clients to a cocktail reception on Thursday, October 20 to enable them to have first choice of their 1 to 3 bedrooms condo in the Evolo NEX tower.

The 150 guests in attendance to learn more about Evolo NEX were particularly enthusiastic given the interruption of the project for close to 2 years. The participants who have chosen to make the 26-storey luxury building their home reserved their condo at the presale price on the spot.

All of them were able to find out more about the building plans by surfing on the interactive screens and by viewing the tower’s sophisticated common spaces. A model kitchen and bathroom were installed in the sales office to show the high-quality materials which will be integrated in the finishing of the condos.

Market conditions

According to the QPAREB, demand for residential real estate is still very high, and November saw an increase in the number of new listings. Demand for condominiums in the Centre-Sud sector increased by 23% this year. People are less enticed to move to the suburbs. Improved public health measures are encouraging people to settle on the Island of Montréal.[1]

The Bank of Canada announced it will hold its key interest rate at 0.25% and does not foresee an increase before the second or third quarter of 2022.
